How to turn your packaging into a Sustainability Statement?
In today’s world, sustainability is no longer a trend – it’s an expectation. Businesses are expected to reduce their environmental impact and show customers how their products affect the planet. It’s not enough just to say your packaging is sustainable. The key is to back it up with measurable facts.
At Kroonpak, we’ve always supported the idea that sustainability should be clear and easy to communicate. That’s why we offer our customers Greenline Package labels – a simple, transparent way to calculate and share the carbon footprint of your packaging.

What is Greenline Package and why it matters?
Greenline Package is our in-house eco-labelling system. Using real production data, we calculate the CO₂ emissions from raw materials to production and delivery – providing a full cradle-to-gate footprint. Once your footprint is calculated, you’ll receive a QR-code label for your packaging. End users can scan the code to access an outline of the product’s environmental profile.
Why it matters
- Today’s customers care. They want to know that the brands they support are doing their part.
- Regulators are demanding more transparency.
- And most importantly – it adds credibility to your sustainability efforts.
It’s more than emission reduction – it’s a way to build trust through real, verifiable data.
If we can’t measure it, we can’t improve it – that’s why footprint data matters.

How does it work?
We use key data from your packaging project to estimate the associated CO₂ emissions as accurately as possible. Step by step, here’s how it works:
- Request a carbon footprint calculation
We start by gathering key details about your planned packaging – such as the type of paperboard, printing methods, production waste percentage, and delivery locations. - Receive packaging impact data
Using the ISO 16759:2013 methodology, certified by Bureau Veritas, we analyse your packaging’s cradle-to-gate life cycle and generate a carbon footprint report. We also provide a QR label that links directly to the footprint data. - Explore sustainable alternatives
If you’re looking to reduce your impact, our team can support you with expert advice on material selection, packaging design, and smarter production planning. For example:
- Minimise printing complexity – Using fewer inks, varnishes and printing plates helps reduce the overall carbon footprint.
- Optimise production volumes – Producing larger quantities in a single print run and using the same plates, is more resource-efficient.
- Reduce material waste – Choosing the right carton size and smart structural design lowers cutting waste and improves CO₂ efficiency.
- Label & communicate your impact
Once your carbon footprint is calculated, you can then add the Greenline Package label to your packaging – making your sustainability efforts visible to customers.
